Entertaining Millennials at the Reception

Millennials – the generation born between 1981 to 1996 – are saying ‘I do’ later in life and couples are certainly saying goodbye to a lot of the original wedding traditions adopted by generations gone by. Entertaining your millennial guests at the reception of your big day is now more important than ever. Creating a full aesthetic of food, drinks and entertainment at the reception may even be deemed more important than the ceremony itself!

It goes without saying that your wedding day is about celebrating the love you share for each other. Celebrating this love with your friends and family is key. Having said that, who doesn’t want to create a memorable day that can be enjoyed by all? We like to think this is the one day that you as a couple can make truly about you. Making the day extra special and unique is so important.

At JP Events, we work with couples to realise their big day. Bringing all of our couples’ fabulous ideas to life is what we do best. Keeping millennial guests entertained at weddings is becoming more and more of a challenge. So, in this blog, we share our favourite ideas to help you start thinking about how to entertain your millennial guests, at your wedding reception.

First Stop, Venue

Gone are the days of the traditional church weddings. Millennial couples far and wide are upping their venue game and by having an awesome wedding venue you can really add that wow factor.

Choosing a venue that has a range of areas for guests to experience has become more commonplace in millennial wedding receptions. Having different areas can provide entertainment in itself!

The choice of locations and venues around Nashville in which to hold your wedding reception will no doubt offer your guests an entertaining event, no matter which you choose. From contemporary options to indoor venues, we can help pick a venue that fits with your ideas.

Similarly to the venue choice, décor at a millennial wedding reception plays a big part as to how entertaining the overall experience is. Choosing a cohesive style across your wedding reception will add that wow factor, which millennial wedding guests are so hot on.

We’ve seen winter Wonderlands, Autumnal Forests and Floral Fantasies all come to life, so no matter what you choose for your décor we can make your dreams a reality at JP events.

Fabulous Food

Food has become one of the key things Millenials look at when it comes to their wedding reception. Guests will look forward to seeing how their food is presented and happy couples are keen to impress.

With great veggie and vegan options included, drinks choices to complement and exotic desserts, food choice has become entertainment in itself!

If you really want to up your food game, why not opt for table chefs? A nominated guest carves the meat or flambe’s the crepes. This can also be a fantastic ice breaker for tables who aren’t familiar with each other.

Social Media is becoming a huge part of the big day. A popular addition to any millennial reception is using your own social media hashtags, usually a play-off of the Bride & Grooms last names, so guests can add to the online photo album.

Alternatively, incorporate your own photo or video booths that upload directly to a social site or can print out take home photos? These booths offer great entertainment for millennial guests, you can even opt for a fancy dress booth which provides all the props for your guests to enjoy.

Nowadays, documenting the big day has never been easier. Gone are the days of waiting for your wedding photos; waking up the morning after the day before you’ll be able to enjoy it all over again via your guests’ social media uploads!

Awesome Activities

Couples are thinking more and more about the activities provided at the wedding reception. Whilst the standard band and dancing are still a big player, there are ways in which you can incorporate a whole new level of fun to your big day.

From magicians and musicians to cocktail masters. Karaoke booths, games areas with giant Jenga or checkers and food stations providing quirky takeaway options. The options are quite literally endless! You may have dedicated whiskey or champagne bars, a fantastic fireworks display or set up a cool casino?

After The Party is The After-Party!

No more are the days of the curfew and guests heading home after the main reception. Newlyweds and their millennial guests want to see the party carry-on into the small hours. Whether they join themselves or just want to keep their guests entertained past the obligatory dinner and dancing.

You may opt for a simple nightclub atmosphere, or go all out with fairground rides and performers. Entertaining millennial guests for longer is becoming the new tradition! Once you’ve wined and dined your guests and the first dance is done and dusted, we’ve seen it all. From circus acts and fireworks to ice cream vans and cigar bars, let your imagination run wild and really wow your millennial wedding guests!
